Veggie Burger Giveaway at Hackney

On Saturday 15 October Vegan Campaigns held a free veggie burger giveaway outside McDonalds on Mare Street, Hackney. There was also a demo and leafleting at the same time, against McDonalds.

There was a great response from the public who were very positive about the food and wanted to find out more. We had nearly two hundred half burgers to give away and these were quickly snapped up.

While there we also gave away carrot cake and chocolate and promoted Pogo Café, who are just down the road from Mare Street, where our stall and demo was situated.

We also gave out lots of copies of 'Why Vegan', hundreds of anti-McDonalds leaflets and had plenty of other literature.

The two McDonalds managers were busy but managed to find a free two and a half hours to try and chat to protesters - to no avail.

It was great to be able to give people an alternative to the 'food' found in McDonalds and give them a taste of delicious, healthy vegan food.
