news > 29 April 2006 Veggie Burger Giveaway and McDonalds Demo in HackneyOn Saturday 29 April Vegan Campaigns held a veggie burger giveaway and McDonalds demo in Hackney. Hundreds of anti-McDonalds leaflets were given out, and a stall was set up outside McDonalds with leaflets and vegan food tasters. This included burgers, to give people a healthy and cruelty-free alternative to the junk in McDonalds. Many people snapped up the opportunity, with 200 burgers being given away. The burgers went down very well, with lots of compliments. The recipe was a slight adaptation of the burgers sold at Pogo Cafe, 76 Clarence Road, Hackney. Pogo is a vegan cafe, with most food being organic. We also gave out Biona spring rolls, Scheese, Booja-booja chocolates and Orgran fruit bars. There was a lot of interest and support. Nearly every Thursday there is a protest outside McDonalds, 25-27 Shatesbury Avenue, London. They run from 6-7.30pm. The nearest tube is Piccadilly Circus. If you want to take part text or phone 07960 036044 to confirm that the demo is on. |
